Wild At Heart (Eldredge) – discovering the secret of a man’s soul.
Secrets Men Keep (Arterburn) – how men make life and love tougher than it has to be.
Out of the Locker Room of the Male Soul (Masterson) – deals with issues men face.
Outdoor Insights (Chapman) – what a Dad can teach a child in God’s great outdoors .
Fiction – The Priest (Traylor) – an archaeology professor gets an invitation to do secret research for a mysterious Israeli group. The results could trigger a world crisis.

Check out the DVD’s and other great titles in our collection. Ladies visiting the library outnumber the men. This is a challenge to change that statistic!

Just finished reading Dutch Sheet's book entitled "Authority in Prayer" which I found was not only entertaining but very informative. Admit that I found it to be a book worth taking your time with, taking notes, & enjoying the humour sprinkled throughout. This is a book that, to me personally, inspired much thought & prayer. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to take another step forward in their prayer life.

THE IRRESISTIBLE REVOLUTION
by Shane Claiborne
In "The Irresistible Revolution" Shane Claiborne expresses the authentic Christianity that most of us are trying to avoid because the cost is too high. He talks about how Jesus modeled the way to live. Everything Jesus did and said was out of love for the individual. Shane challenges us to allow the Holy Spirit to begin to change us, starting in our heart and extending through our hands into a broken world. Through following Jesus' example we will truly understand that the ground is level at the foot of the cross.

I’d like to add to the library prayer theme by recommending Max Lucado’s book "The Great House of God" (1997). I read it some time ago, but it made a lasting impression on me. Lucado uses the Lord’s Prayer as a floor plan to explore the spiritual house God has prepared. “It’s a home your heart was meant to live in”. In this refreshing look at an often-recited prayer, each phrase is used to describe different “rooms” of my heart. The foundation of my house is the small word “is”- Our Father who is in Heaven – not "was" or "will be". God is ever-present and I can be assured of a strong foundation for my spiritual house. Take a look at this book. It will inspire and encourage you as you walk with God.

Shirley and I have been reading Philip Yancy's book "Prayer, Does it make any difference" together (but separately and then chatting about it). So far I have been encouraged. Sometimes I have been discouraged by my prayer life or lack of it. Philip Yancy states that prayer helps us get a perspective on who God is in relation to who we are. He is so big and we are so small and yet, he cares about hearing from us - just as much as your good friend wants you to call and chat on the phone or out for coffee, God wants us to stop in the midst of our day and chat with him. To be honest with him. Shout, cry, scream, laugh or share a good time or a hard time. Yes, he knows (unlike your good friend) what you are feeling and going through before you tell him, but he would like you to express it. That has encouraged me that my prayer life isn't as nonexistent as I thought. I talk out loud to God a lot in lots of places about a lot of things and that is prayer too. So,if you see me driving or walking and talking to myself, really, I'm not going loony - it just looks that way! I am looking forward to the next section of the book and finding out more. Sorry if you want to read it, I think I will have it out of the library for a while! I might just buy my own...
